National Climate Assessment Workshop in the Colorado River Basin

The “Evaluating our Capacity: A Discussion of Capability for Ongoing Climate Assessment in the Colorado River Basin” workshop which will take place June 6 – 8, 2011 in Boulder, Colorado. The workshop is being offered by The Climate Assessment for the Southwest (CLIMAS), in collaboration with the Western Water Assessment (WWA) and the California‐Nevada Applications Program (CNAP). The workshop will focus on the research and institutional capacity for conducting ongoing climate change assessment in the Colorado River Basin, in a multi-sector context. Plenary presentations will outline the current state of climate change assessment and adaptation in the basin, and key challenges for avoiding maladaptations in work across the agricultural, water and ecosystem management sectors. In breakout sessions, participants will identify needs, gaps and opportunities to develop capacity, and will define metrics for success, in relation to the National Climate Assessment.
